The School of Educational Sciences at the University of Jordan hosted educational expert Mr. Ahmad Abu Shindi, who earned third place in the Mohammed bin Zayed Award for Best Teacher in the Arab World. His visit was part of two courses: Reading Skills, taught by Professor Dr. Akram Al-Bashir, and Writing Skills, taught by Dr. Ibrahim Hamad.
Mr. Abu Shindi shared his experiences in the exciting world of education, including his journey to winning third place in the Mohammed bin Zayed Award for Best Teacher. He encouraged the students to remain hopeful, to value themselves, and to take the necessary steps to earn educational awards. He also emphasized the importance of seeking God's pleasure in fulfilling the duty of teaching.
He showcased examples of educational games he has designed and used in his engaging teaching methods. He also presented a range of educational initiatives he has launched across Jordan, totaling over 42 initiatives, including the Animal Welfare Initiative, Metaverse Education for the Future, and projects aimed at improving schools in remote areas.
In the field of educational technology, Mr. Abu Shindi explained its importance in attracting students' attention and discussed strategies for "teaching with love" and "teaching with melody." He highlighted the significant impact of these strategies on young students, especially in helping them retain information quickly and encouraging them to reach their creative potential. Mr. Abu Shindi also demonstrated key skills in Arabic language teaching, providing examples of sound imitation (e.g., National Geographic, GPS positioning devices) and the use of diverse voices in storytelling.
He also addressed the efforts made to improve the Arabic language curriculum, particularly the current Arabic is My Language curriculum, and compared it to previous versions. He noted that the current curriculum emphasizes the development of students' skills and abilities.
At the end of the session, Mr. Abu Shindi thanked the School of Educational Sciences for its active role in the local community and for inviting educational experts to deliver lectures and workshops for the students. The students expressed their appreciation for his valuable lecture.
In recognition of Mr. Ahmad Abu Shindi's efforts, Dr. Akram Al-Bashir, Chair of the Curriculum and Teaching Department, presented him with a School shield.
It is worth mentioning that Mr. Ahmad holds a Bachelor's degree in Primary Education from the University of Naour and works as a primary school teacher at the UNRWA Hae Nazzal School. He has received over 100 certificates of appreciation and more than 95 awards from Jordanian educational institutions. He is also an active educational advocate on social media.
