Professor Dr. Ramzi Fathi Haroun, Vice Dean of the School of Educational Sciences for Quality, Research, and E-Learning, participated as a keynote speaker at the First Counseling Conference organized by the Jordanian International Schools on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, in Amman. The conference was attended by dozens of educational counselors from private sector schools.
Dr. Haroun began his participation by emphasizing the vital role of educational counseling in developing students' psychological and social skills, stressing the importance of addressing the impacts of social media on the current generation in a conscious and informed manner.
His scientific presentation covered the following key points:
1. Psychoneurotic Effects of Social Media Use, including depression, anxiety, digital addiction, sleep and attention disorders.
2. The Role of Educational Counselors in promoting digital awareness, providing psychological support, and implementing effective strategies for time management.
3. Practical Interventions, such as workshops and individual follow-up plans to mitigate the negative effects of social media.
At the conclusion of his scientific paper, Dr. Haroun stressed the importance of continuing such activities to support the educational community and enhance cooperation among counselors to develop educational practices in Jordan.
