The School of Educational Sciences at the University of Jordan Celebrates World Teachers’ Day “Makers of Generations” by Welcoming the Fifth Cohort of the Higher Diploma in Teacher Preparation

The School of Educational Sciences at the University of Jordan celebrated World Teachers’ Day by welcoming the fifth cohort of students enrolled in the Higher Diploma in Teacher Preparation program. The event took place in an atmosphere filled with pride and appreciation for the noble mission of teachers and their pivotal role in shaping humanity and building the future.

The celebration was attended by Professor Mohammad Sayel Al-Zayoud, Dean of the School of Educational Sciences, who emphasized in his speech that the teacher is the true architect of intellectual and cultural renaissance and the builder of generations. He stated that celebrating teachers is, in essence, celebrating the nation’s future, as teachers are the guardians of values, drivers of change, and pioneers of reform in their communities.

Professor Al-Zayoud highlighted that the Higher Diploma in Teacher Preparation program was launched in response to the Royal directives and vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, and in alignment with the efforts of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, who has shown great commitment to improving education and empowering qualified Jordanian teachers who are dedicated to their nation and inspired by the Hashemite values of excellence and service.

He added that the program stands out for its strong partnerships with the Ministry of Education and various international institutions, which have contributed to the training of hundreds of teachers, equipping them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and tools to lead effective and impactful learning inside classrooms.

Al-Zayoud reaffirmed that the University of Jordan, through the School of Educational Sciences, has played a pioneering role in preparing and qualifying teachers since its establishment. The School offers a range of specialized academic programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels across various educational disciplines, in addition to the Higher Diploma in Teacher Preparation, which stands as one of the university’s most distinguished achievements in recent years—embodying its national vision of advancing education and empowering educators.

He also pointed out that the School offers leading programs in curriculum and instruction, educational leadership and foundations, psychological and educational counseling, educational psychology, and information and library science, all of which aim to develop the professional and ethical identity of teachers capable of keeping pace with global developments in education while remaining rooted in national and human values.

Al-Zayoud noted that the School adopts an advanced educational philosophy that integrates theory with practice. Students engage in field training and community-based partnerships, gaining real-world experience that refines their skills, strengthens their professional readiness, and fosters a spirit of responsibility, belonging, and educational creativity.

He added, “At the School of Educational Sciences, we give great importance to continuous professional development by organizing specialized workshops, training courses, and scientific conferences, and by building international research partnerships that align with global trends in education. These initiatives promote the use of technology and artificial intelligence to improve learning outcomes, in line with the University of Jordan’s vision for smart and sustainable education.”

Professor Al-Zayoud emphasized that graduates of the University of Jordan are not merely holders of academic degrees—they are bearers of a national and human mission, equipped to lead, inspire, and contribute to building a productive, creative, and globally competitive Jordanian society. He reiterated that Jordan has long served as a model in investing in human capital, particularly in teachers, who form the foundation of the nation’s development and reform.

In conclusion, the Dean extended his deep appreciation to all teachers in Jordan and around the world, stating:

“World Teachers’ Day is not only a celebration, but also a renewal of our commitment and responsibility to continue preparing generations of teachers who carry the torch of knowledge, lead educational reform, and shape a brighter future for our beloved Jordan under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.”
