Rakan Al-Shawabkeh, a student from the School of Educational Sciences at the University of Jordan, represented the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at the EMPOWER 2025 Global Conference, held in Doha, Qatar, from October 17–18, 2025. The conference was organized by the Education Above All Foundation and brought together a wide range of young leaders from around the world.
Al-Shawabkeh expressed his pride in being selected to represent Jordanian universities at this international event, describing it as a true honor for the University of Jordan. He emphasized that his participation reflected the creativity, leadership, and commitment of Jordanian youth to building a sustainable and green future. He also expressed deep gratitude to the School of Educational Sciences, which he described as a “hub of excellence and innovation”, for its continuous encouragement and support of students’ participation in local and international initiatives that promote leadership and social responsibility.
This year’s conference was held under the theme “Driving Climate Action through Green Entrepreneurship”, serving as one of the world’s leading youth platforms dedicated to empowering young people, fostering community leadership, and promoting innovation in sustainable development and the green economy.
The event featured a series of interactive workshops on green skills, innovation, and sustainable entrepreneurship, as well as panel discussions with prominent local and international experts in climate action and environmental business. It also included inspirational talks delivered by global youth leaders and thinkers, along with networking opportunities that enabled participants to connect with organizations and mentors supporting environmental and entrepreneurial initiatives.
The EMPOWER Conference aims to empower youth as key drivers of change, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to address environmental and social challenges. It also integrates two global objectives: combating climate change and tackling youth unemployment through the promotion of green entrepreneurship.
Additionally, the conference contributes to raising environmental awareness, advancing the concepts of circular economy, renewable energy, and green technologies, and building global networks for collaborative, sustainable projects that generate both local and international impact.
At the conclusion of his participation, Al-Shawabkeh expressed his deep pride in representing Jordan and the University of Jordan on the global stage, affirming that this achievement embodies the vision of ambitious Jordanian youth striving for creativity, leadership, and sustainability. He emphasized that the University of Jordan, through its colleges and programs, continues to support and empower its students to participate effectively in international initiatives that contribute to sustainable development and the building of a greener future.
