"Alayan" Publishes a Book on Jerusalem's Libraries and Documents Zionist Violations Aiming to Erase Its Identity

Today, the Faculty of Educational Sciences at the University of Jordan organized a launch event for the book "The Development of Libraries in Jerusalem," published by the Library and Information Association and authored by Dr. Rubhi Alayan.

The book, which spans 240 medium-sized pages, highlights the history of libraries in Jerusalem from the beginning of the Islamic conquest of the city to the present day. It provides a brief historical overview of the libraries in Jerusalem through different Islamic eras, with dedicated chapters on various types of libraries in Jerusalem. These include mosque, church, and synagogue libraries, followed by private libraries, school libraries, zawiya libraries, and then public and specialized libraries, concluding with academic libraries such as those in institutes and universities.

Amid the Zionist violations aimed at erasing the identity of the holy city, the author has made a significant effort to defend the city's libraries. The final chapter is dedicated to documenting all Zionist violations against these libraries, showcasing various forms of violations over the past seventy-five years in attempts to erase the Arab Islamic identity of the city.
