Today, Tuesday, Dr. Nazir Obeidat, President of the University of Jordan, inaugurated the annual scientific forum of the School of Educational Sciences, themed "Education and Global Developments." Organized by the School of Educational Sciences, the event saw participation from educational experts and researchers, with vice presidents, deans, university staff, and students in attendance.
During the opening session and the first panel titled "The Impact of Jordanian National, Educational, and Political Security on Global Security and Stability," Dr. Obeidat emphasized the importance of education in fostering sensitivity, respect, and tolerance to prevent feelings of enslavement or alienation. He stressed that moral truths are perceived differently by individuals and societies, and no single perspective is inherently superior.
Dr. Obeidat highlighted that education is a crucial common factor between individuals and society, essential for societal growth and prosperity. He noted that quality education provides children and youth with knowledge and values, including love, justice, respect for others, empathy, and compassion. This foundation enables individuals to listen, solve problems, and defend the truth with courage.
He affirmed that values and ethics transcend socioeconomic status, religion, race, and culture. Quality education, he said, equips learners to navigate life, secure jobs, and protect themselves from poverty and marginalization, thus serving as a powerful tool against violence and instability.
Dr. Obeidat reiterated the University of Jordan's commitment to creating an educational environment that emphasizes humanity, diversity, teamwork, problem-solving, technology, communication, and proficiency in Arabic and English. He praised the university's staff and students for their dedication and commitment.
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Nasser Sami Judeh, spoke about the university's foundation under King Hussein's visionary leadership and King Abdullah II's continued investment in education. Judeh emphasized comprehensive national security and the importance of education in maintaining security at all levels.
Former Minister of Justice, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Amoosh, discussed various aspects of security, including educational, political, national, regional, and global security. He highlighted the impact of social media on beliefs and traditions and stressed the importance of protecting the Arabic language in official communications.
Dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences, Dr. Mohammad Sael Al-Zayoud, stated that educational systems are deeply intertwined with global, national, and regional events.
