The School of Educational Sciences Organizes a Dialogue Seminar on the General Framework for School Curricula, Its Standards, and Indicators

The School of Educational Sciences at the University of Jordan organized a dialogue seminar on the "General Framework for School Curricula, Its Standards, Indicators, Foundations, and Philosophy." The seminar featured Dr. Omar Abu Ghleon, an educational expert and the Executive Director of the National Center for Curricula, who delivered a comprehensive presentation on the concepts and principles of curriculum development as part of the university’s Expert Hosting Program. This initiative aims to enrich the academic experience of students by connecting them to real-world educational practices, preparing them for the job market.

Dr. Abu Ghleon’s session was held as part of the "Curriculum Planning" course for master's students, taught by Professor Dr. Ibrahim Al-Shara, Professor of Curriculum and Methods of Teaching Mathematics. During the seminar, Dr. Abu Ghleon discussed the foundational principles of the general curriculum framework, noting that it is derived from the Jordanian constitution, which is inspired by the teachings of the Quran and the Sunnah, while emphasizing the respect for Jordanian values and traditions.
Dr. Abu Ghleon also presented the framework for mathematics curricula, covering the content distribution across various grade levels in line with the scope and sequence matrix. He elaborated on the standards and indicators associated with these curricula, as well as the learning outcomes that guide the development of school textbooks. Additionally, he compared Jordanian curricula with those used in other countries, explaining their position within both global and Arab curricula.
At the end of the seminar, students had the opportunity to ask questions and seek clarifications. Dr. Abu Ghleon welcomed their inquiries and provided detailed answers, expressing his appreciation for their interest. The session concluded with Professor Dr. Ibrahim Al-Shara thanking Dr. Abu Ghleon for his efforts and contributions in enriching the students' understanding of the processes involved in developing the general curriculum framework, curriculum planning, and textbook development.
