As part of its efforts to equip students with essential skills for their academic and research journeys, the School of Educational Sciences at the University of Jordan, through its Alumni Office, organized a specialized training workshop entitled “Fundamentals of Scientific Research". The workshop saw active participation from undergraduate and postgraduate students interested in enhancing their skills in this vital field.
The workshop aimed to introduce students to the basic concepts of scientific research, its types, and its diverse quantitative and qualitative methodologies. It also shed light on the systematic steps involved in conducting scientific research—from selecting a topic, formulating the research problem, and setting hypotheses, to collecting and analyzing data and documenting references using established scientific methods.
Dr. Mona Bader, Director of the Measurement and Evaluation Department at the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching at the University of Jordan, delivered the workshop. She presented a comprehensive body of scientific content supported by practical examples and real research experiences, reflecting her deep academic and field expertise in scientific research and modern evaluation methods.
The workshop featured rich, interactive discussions between Dr. Bader and the participating students. Numerous questions and inquiries were raised, reflecting the students' awareness and keenness to grasp the fundamentals of scientific research and apply them appropriately in their academic projects and future theses.
The workshop was organized under the supervision of Ms. Ghada Qaqish, Assistant Dean for Alumni Affairs, Laboratories, and Events, who emphasized that this workshop is part of a series of training activities aimed at enhancing students' research competencies, connecting them with modern research practices, and preparing them for graduate studies and graduation projects in a rigorous scientific manner.
Students from various specializations within the faculty took part in the workshop and expressed great interest in the topics presented. They affirmed the importance of such training initiatives in refining their skills and increasing their academic readiness, especially in light of the growing demands for producing reliable scientific knowledge in the university environment.
This workshop aligns with the School of Educational Sciences' vision of promoting a culture of scientific research as an integral part of the university student experience. It also activates the role of the Alumni Office in building ongoing bridges between academic and professional spheres, contributing to the preparation of graduates who possess tools for scientific, critical, and creative thinking.
