Dr. Jawaher Al-Ghuwairi from the Higher Diploma Program for Teacher Preparation at the School of Educational Sciences at the University of Jordan participated in an educational training program organized by the Mohammed bin Zayed Award for Best Teacher in collaboration with the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (RCAST) at the University of Tokyo. The delegation included distinguished educators from several Arab countries and lasted for two weeks. The program aimed to enrich the experience of the award-winning participants in innovative teaching methods, curriculum development, school management, and other modern educational fields.
The training program included lectures, interactive sessions, and seminars held at the university, as well as field visits to various educational institutions. The participants were introduced to the Japanese school education system, their experience in reforming the educational and university system, and success stories in multiple areas such as integrating technology in education, employing inquiry-based and project-based learning, and the STEAM approach. They also learned about special activities in Tokatsu and Sogo schools, as well as inclusive education. The program also included visits to educational institutions such as Bunkyo University, where the participants observed their program linking university professors with students from public and private schools. Additionally, they visited the Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education and institutions involved in publishing educational curricula to understand the Japanese educational experience and the challenges faced by the system.
At the end of the program, Dr. Al-Ghuwairi presented a session on lesson planning that aligns with the latest developments in education in Jordan, sharing this experience with the participating Arab educators and Japanese colleagues at the university. Dr. Al-Ghuwairi plans to share these experiences and success stories with the educational community in Jordan to benefit schools and universities in the future.
