The School of Educational Sciences at the University of Jordan Launches the Higher Diploma Program in Educational Leadership with Global Academic Standards

The School of Educational Sciences at the University of Jordan has launched a new Higher Diploma Program in Educational Leadership, as part of the university’s strategic plans to meet the needs of the Jordanian educational system for qualified educational leaders.

This academic initiative reflects the university’s efforts to develop innovative programs that respond to contemporary educational transformations and reinforce its pioneering role in shaping the educational landscape locally and regionally.

The program aims to prepare educational leaders capable of strategic planning and efficient management of human and financial resources in educational institutions, while also developing students’ capacities to practice transformational and ethical leadership that ensures sustainable positive change in schools and educational organizations.

It also focuses on enhancing skills in crisis management and decision-making in complex educational contexts, equipping students with the ability to critically analyze educational policies. The program further seeks to provide educators with the tools needed to foster educational innovation and digital transformation, in line with Jordan’s future vision for modernizing the education sector.

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sayel Al-Zyoud, Dean of the School of Educational Sciences, explained that the program was launched in response to an urgent need in the Jordanian and Arab educational fields for specialized graduate-level programs in educational leadership, built on global quality standards and aligned with the aspirations of educational institutions to cultivate leaders with vision and the capacity for change.

He added that the program’s design was informed by international best practices, while ensuring that its content reflects Jordanian cultural and educational specificities, making it a key contributor to preparing influential educational leaders in the field. Dr. Al-Zyoud emphasized that the School will provide a rich learning environment based on interactive learning, case studies, and practical training in educational institutions, in addition to involving local and international experts in the teaching process to ensure diversity of expertise.

Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Awamreh, Head of the Department of Educational Leadership and Foundations at the School of Educational Sciences, confirmed that the introduction of the Higher Diploma in Educational Leadership represents a qualitative leap in graduate programs at the University of Jordan, aligning with the department’s mission to prepare leaders with strategic vision and the capacity to impact the development of educational institutions.

He further explained that the program was the result of collaborative efforts between the department, the School, and the university, designed to combine theoretical and practical dimensions and incorporate the latest global trends in educational leadership, while addressing the Jordanian and Arab contexts. Dr. Al-Awamreh added that the program will enable participants to acquire critical thinking, decision-making, and ethical leadership skills, preparing them to bring about tangible and sustainable change in their schools and educational organizations.

The program is expected to provide schools and educational institutions with leaders trained in the most advanced methods of educational leadership, thereby supporting the Ministry of Education’s plans and initiatives to improve school management and enhance efficiency. It will also contribute to achieving the objectives of the National Human Resources Development Strategy by preparing educational leaders capable of addressing the challenges of globalization and digital transformation.

Additionally, the program aspires to build a network of educational leaders able to share experiences and practices between Jordanian schools and their counterparts in the region. The program’s accreditation further affirms the University of Jordan’s commitment to expanding graduate studies programs that meet contemporary requirements, provide advanced education aligned with national development priorities, serve the community, and strengthen its role as a leading academic reference in preparing qualified educational cadres and as a hub of expertise in educational leadership and decision-making.

It is worth noting that the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission has officially approved the special accreditation for the Higher Diploma in Educational Leadership. This accreditation is the result of academic and administrative efforts by the university and the School over recent months, with specialized teams aligning the curriculum and learning outcomes with both national and international accreditation standards. The program was designed to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical applications in educational leadership, ensuring that graduates acquire the hands-on skills needed to address the fast-evolving challenges in educational environments.
