The meeting comes as part of the School’s strategic plan to enhance the quality of its academic programs and achieve Jordanian accreditation standards in alignment with the University of Jordan’s mission of academic excellence and leadership.
At the outset, Professor Al-Zyoud welcomed the attendees, expressing his appreciation for the significant efforts made by faculty and administrative staff in supporting the School’s academic development and quality assurance endeavors.
He emphasized that the Jordanian Accreditation Project represents a pivotal milestone in the School’s progress toward institutional and academic distinction. He noted that this step aligns with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission, which seek to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of higher education institutions locally and regionally.
Al-Zyoud added that the School possesses the accumulated academic and administrative expertise required to successfully meet the project’s requirements, reaffirming that achieving Jordanian accreditation will enhance the credibility of the School’s graduates, improve teaching and learning environments, and raise the effectiveness of academic plans, teaching methods, and assessment processes.
Presentation of the Executive Plan
Professor Dr. Ramzi Fathi Haroun delivered a detailed presentation of the procedural action plan for the Jordanian Accreditation Project. He clarified that the national project is based on six main standards outlined by the Accreditation Commission, which include:
Academic Program Management and Planning
Teaching and Learning
Scientific Research, Creativity, and Innovation
Students and Graduates
Learning Resources and Academic Support
Community Service and Continuous Development
Dr. Haroun explained that the School will proceed according to a precise timeline, beginning with the preparation of the self-study report for each academic program based on the Jordanian Accreditation Manual (2022). This will be followed by gathering evidence and documentation demonstrating the programs’ compliance with performance indicators, leading up to the external review phase conducted by an accredited evaluation committee that will carry out field visits using the Commission’s rubric-based evaluation system.
He further outlined the responsibilities of the core team, stressing the importance of adopting a culture of institutional quality that engages all faculty, administrative staff, and students—rather than limiting responsibility to technical committees alone. This culture aims to reinforce excellence and continuous improvement across academic and administrative performance, ensuring sustainability of quality practices and strengthening collective commitment to the School’s vision of academic advancement.
Accreditation Stages
Dr. Haroun indicated that the accreditation process consists of three main stages:
Eligibility Verification – ensuring that programs meet all conditions required for applying.
Preparation and Submission of the Self-Study Report – including internal evaluations and analysis of strengths and improvement opportunities.
External Review – field evaluation by an expert committee, culminating in a decision to grant, postpone, or deny accreditation.
He noted that achieving accreditation requires strict adherence to standards, timelines, and organizational procedures, as well as comprehensive documentation proving program quality.
During the meeting, attendees received an electronic copy of the Jordanian Accreditation Manual for Academic Programs, which includes major and minor standards, self-evaluation procedures, analytical tools, and official templates for preparing self-study reports and field visit documents. The manual helps universities apply objective and scientific approaches to evaluating and improving their programs in line with international best practices.
Coordination and Implementation
The meeting also discussed coordination mechanisms between academic departments and the School’s Quality Assurance Office. The attendees emphasized teamwork in preparing accreditation documents and integrating efforts in data collection, analysis, and documentation.
It was agreed to develop a detailed plan including task distribution, scheduled periodic meetings, and specialized workshops for sub-teams focusing on self-study report preparation, indicator formulation, and evidence documentation.
Closing Remarks
In his concluding remarks, Professor Al-Zyoud expressed great confidence in the core team and School staff, affirming that the School of Educational Sciences is moving steadily toward fulfilling the accreditation requirements for all its academic programs.
He stressed that the project represents a foundational step in enhancing the School’s academic and research standing and advancing its mission in teacher preparation and educational development.
He extended his gratitude to all participants for their commitment and active engagement, calling for the continuation of collaborative work, effective communication, and joint responsibility to complete the project within the set timeframe and in a manner that reflects the School’s excellence.
Professor Al-Zyoud concluded by affirming that the School of Educational Sciences at the University of Jordan remains strongly committed to quality standards and academic accreditation, and will continue to strive for excellence in teaching, learning, research, and community service—maintaining its role as a leading academic institution at the national and regional levels.
