About the program and its main topics
The Bachelor of Special Education program was established with the establishment of the Faculty of Educational Sciences in the academic year 1972/1973, and the study plan of the program consists of 132 credit hours divided into (27) university requirements, (27) college requirements, and (78) specialization requirements, and the study subjects are distributed between compulsory and elective and (12) field training hours that fall under the compulsory specialization subjects, and the main topics of the program are based on: Mental and developmental disabilities, sensory disabilities, learning disabilities, and the program includes other core topics such as behavior modification, talent and excellence, curricula and methods in special education, assessment and diagnosis in special education, and field training subject.

A high-level program characterized by the preparation of special education teachers and specialists in the field of special education to meet the needs of Jordan and the Arab region.
Program Mission
Providing educational, learning and training experiences that prepare specialists in the field of special education to be able to understand and interpret the theoretical, pedagogical, and behavioral foundations, logical thinking skills, working within a multidisciplinary team, assessment and diagnostic techniques in special education, and providing them with communication, positive communication, and intervention skills to deal with students in general using preventive and curative educational methods.
Program Objectives
1. Preparing specialists in the field of special education to work in the field in a way that meets the accreditation and quality standards issued by the Supreme Council for Persons with Disabilities and the international standards of CEAP.
2. Preparing distinguished specialists and teachers in the field of special education, who have high professional competence, who are able to provide quality education to their students, who are keen on continuous professional development, and who use modern technology in their field of specialization.
3. Contributing with universities and public and private institutions in raising the level of educational programs provided to students with disabilities.
4. Providing training and awareness services to the families of children with disabilities and the community in general to prevent disability and develop realistic attitudes towards people with special needs.
5. Creating the appropriate environment and conditions for the faculty members in the department to enable them to carry out solid scientific research, publish and distribute distinguished scientific literature, and hold specialized scientific conferences, seminars, and lectures in various fields of special education.
6. Encouraging distinguished humanitarian work with individuals with disabilities and their families that adheres to high standards of professional and ethical practice.
7. Raising awareness, serving and empowering local communities and establishing partnerships with relevant public and private community institutions to find solutions to problems in the field of special education and improve the quality of life for individuals with special needs and their families.
