About the program and its main topics
The Ph.D. program in special education was established with the establishment of the Department of Counseling and Special Education separately from the other departments in the College of Educational Sciences in 2000/2001, and the study plan of the program consists of 54 credit hours, of which the thesis track is divided into (18) hours of compulsory subjects and (18) hours of elective subjects, and the study subjects are distributed between compulsory and elective, and its main topics are based on: It discusses contemporary issues and problems in special education in addition to special education in early childhood, and also includes research in special education, in addition to elective subjects that deal in depth with various disabilities such as: physical disabilities, hearing, visual, mental disabilities, learning disabilities, and severe and multiple disabilities, and also discusses behavior disorders, autism spectrum disorder, and finally field applications in special education in which the student visits several places that help him to know the details Life for people with special needs.

Program Mission
Providing educational, learning and training experiences commensurate with the needs of the local and Arab community through work to provide students with basic knowledge in the field of special education to be able to understand and interpret the psychological life of human beings, and provide students with logical thinking skills, assessment and diagnostic techniques in special education, and providing them with communication skills, positive communication, and intervention skills to deal with coping problems among students in general using preventive and therapeutic methods.
Program Objectives
1. Preparing specialists in the field of special education to work in the field in a way that meets the accreditation and quality standards issued by the Supreme Council for Persons with Disabilities Affairs.
2. Deep field specialization among graduates of the specialization of special education and providing them with specialized skills.
3. Increasing scientific research and directing it through university theses and theses, which should be directed to address fundamental issues and problems in the field in special education.
4. Preparing distinguished specialists and teachers in the field of special education, who have high professional competence, are able to provide quality education to their students, are keen on continuous professional development, and use modern technology in their field of specialization.
5. Contributing with universities and public and private institutions in raising the level of educational programs provided to students with special needs.
6. Implementing continuous training programs for special education service providers in Jordan and other Arab countries to develop their level of scientific competence and improve their practical skills.
7. Providing training and awareness services to the families of children with disabilities and the community in general to prevent disability and develop realistic attitudes towards people with special needs.
8. Creating the appropriate environment and conditions for the faculty members in the department to enable them to carry out solid scientific research, publish and distribute distinguished scientific literature, and hold specialized scientific conferences, seminars, and lectures in various fields of special education.
9. Encouraging distinguished humanitarian work with people with special needs and their families, adhering to the standards of professional and ethical practice.
10. Raising awareness, serving and empowering local communities and establishing partnerships with relevant public and private community institutions to find solutions to problems in the field of special education and improving the quality of life for individuals with special needs and their families.
