Dean of the School of Educational Sciences: The School Continues Its Academic Excellence and Strengthens Its Presence in Global Rankings

​Professor Dr. Mohammad Sayel Alzyoud, Dean of the School of Educational Sciences, met with School members in an extensive meeting where he discussed the achievements of the School over the past period, in addition to reviewing future plans aimed at enhancing the School’s position at both the local and international levels. During his speech, Dr. Alzyoud emphasized the importance of teamwork, praising the efforts of School members in developing academic programs and scientific research, which contribute to strengthening the School’s position and leadership in the field of educational sciences.

During the meeting, Dr. Alzyoud reviewed a series of recent academic and administrative achievements, the most notable of which was the updating of academic program curricula to align with labor market requirements and recent developments in education. Additionally, six new School members were appointed to strengthen the academic staff, and approval was granted for two School members to pursue higher studies as part of the School’s policy to support academic development and enhance scientific competencies. Dr. Alzyoud also confirmed that all existing academic programs have been standardized to comply with accreditation and quality standards, ensuring the School’s readiness to welcome students in an advanced educational environment.
Dr. Alzyoud also noted that the School is preparing for an international accreditation visit from the American Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) in September to accredit its higher diploma programs. This marks a significant step toward enhancing international recognition of the School’s degrees and academic programs. He affirmed that this achievement reflects the School’s commitment to applying the highest global academic and educational standards, thereby boosting the competitiveness of its graduates in local and international job markets.
Regarding the School’s position in global rankings, Dr. Alzyoud highlighted its remarkable progress on the international level. The School ranked 258th globally in the QS World University Rankings, fell within the 401-500 range in the Shanghai Ranking, and placed 301-400 in the Times Higher Education Rankings. Moreover, the Library and Information Science program secured the 49th position worldwide, reflecting the advancement of scientific research in this field within the School. Dr. Alzyoud attributed these achievements to ongoing efforts in updating academic programs, enhancing research activities, and fostering international academic partnerships, which elevate the School’s global reputation.
On another note, Dr. Alzyoud shed light on infrastructure development efforts within the School. Currently, 31 classrooms are undergoing partial renovations, while 13 are being completely refurbished, in addition to the modernization of Majed Abu Jaber and Khalil Salem auditoriums. Furthermore, educational laboratories are being equipped with the latest technologies to improve the quality of education. Additionally, 100 computers have been upgraded by increasing their storage capacity and enhancing performance through high-speed SSD and RAM technologies, ensuring a more advanced digital learning experience. The updates are not limited to technological enhancements; they also include maintenance and repainting of various facilities and classrooms, aiming to create a stimulating educational environment for students and School members alike.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Alzyoud emphasized the importance of harmony and cohesion within the School, noting that differences in opinions among colleagues are natural, but mutual respect and collaboration define the School’s work environment. He also stressed the need to continue working as a unified team to achieve the School’s academic and developmental goals.
Dr. Alzyoud also presented several developmental initiatives and proposals to enhance the School’s standing on local, regional, and international levels. Among the most notable initiatives are curriculum development to keep pace with the rapid changes in the education sector, including the introduction of modern specializations such as Educational Technology, Artificial Intelligence in Education, and Smart Curriculum Design. He also highlighted the significance of promoting scientific research and educational innovation through the launch of specialized research labs in fields like digital education, AI in education, and educational psychology, alongside encouraging applied research that addresses real-world educational challenges and offers innovative solutions.
Moreover, Dr. Alzyoud stressed the importance of strengthening community and institutional partnerships by launching community initiatives that enhance the School’s role in local development, such as free training programs for teachers and specialized educational courses. He also emphasized the need to establish strategic relationships with the Ministry of Education to ensure the alignment of the School’s programs with the national education system’s needs. Additionally, he called for greater collaboration with the private sector to support lifelong learning and provide training and employment opportunities for graduates.
In conclusion, Dr. Alzyoud reaffirmed the School’s commitment to implementing its developmental vision, which aims to offer distinguished academic programs, enhance scientific research, and integrate theoretical and practical curricula, ultimately preparing highly qualified educational professionals capable of effectively leading the educational process. He expressed confidence that the efforts of School members would lead to further achievements in the future, solidifying the School’s status as a leading institution in the field of educational sciences both locally and internationally.
