In a step reflecting the School of Educational Sciences' vision for continuous modernization and the enhancement of its academic outcomes, the newly established Department of Teacher Preparation and Field Training held its first council meeting. This department was recently formed as part of the Faculty's organizational structure to serve as a specialized academic arm focused on pedagogical preparation and practical training for student teachers.
The meeting was attended by Professor Dr. Mohammad Sayel Alzyoud, Dean of the School of Educational Sciences, along with Dr. Heba Dmourah, Head of the Department, and council members from the teaching faculty who are experts in early childhood education, classroom teaching, professional teacher preparation, and practical training.
At the beginning of the meeting, Professor Al-Zyoud congratulated the attendees on the establishment of the department, emphasizing that its creation was a response to an urgent need within the Faculty for a dedicated unit aimed at enhancing student teachers' competencies both theoretically and practically. He added that the department aligns with the rapidly evolving philosophies of teacher education, in accordance with national and international standards.
Dr. Al-Zyoud stressed the importance of fostering a work culture within the department based on collegiality, mutual respect, and teamwork. These values, he noted, are fundamental for creating a motivating and productive educational environment that can translate the Faculty's vision into effective service to students and the development of their skills and competencies before entering the job market.
In line with this direction, the participants discussed ways to develop the academic programs overseen by the department. Topics included revisiting course content, strengthening practical and field components, and integrating the latest developments in learning theories and modern teaching methods. The aim is to prepare well-qualified teachers who can adapt to the demands of today's classrooms.
Professor Al-Zyoud also emphasized the need to intensify efforts in the coming phase to obtain international accreditation for the department's educational programs. This would involve meeting global standards and indicators while promoting quality practices and academic governance across all areas of work.
He further stressed the importance of digital transformation in educational content by designing interactive electronic modules, providing digital learning resources, and connecting students with modern educational platforms. These efforts aim to foster students' abilities in self-directed learning and critical thinking, in line with the university's broader digitalization strategy and commitment to educational technology.
Additionally, he highlighted the value of inviting experts and specialists in various academic subjects from both within and outside the university. Their participation would contribute to the development of scientific content and enrich academic discussions among faculty members.
This meeting marks a pivotal starting point for the Department of Teacher Preparation and Field Training. Through this department, the Faculty aspires to achieve excellence in preparing qualified educational professionals and to strengthen the university's status as a beacon of educational and intellectual advancement serving both the local and regional communities.
