Dr. Majdi Al-Batayneh from the School of Educational Sciences at the University of Jordan Delivers a Specialized Training Workshop on Debate Skills in English

The School of Educational Sciences at the University of Jordan organized a specialized training workshop on debate skills in English, delivered by Dr. Majdi Al-Batayneh, an instructor in the Higher Diploma Program for Teacher Preparation. The workshop targeted teachers from the International Program Department at the Digital American Schools, as part of the School’s efforts to strengthen academic and training partnerships with local and international educational institutions.

The workshop aimed to provide participants with theoretical and practical knowledge related to the foundations of educational debate and the mechanisms for integrating debate into classroom practice. This contributes to developing students’ language skills, enhancing their critical thinking abilities, building logical arguments, and enabling them to express their opinions in accurate English within constructive dialogic frameworks.

The workshop included a range of practical applications and interactive models, focusing on the teacher’s role in managing classroom debates, motivating students to actively participate, and fostering listening skills and respect for diverse viewpoints, in line with contemporary trends in English language education.

This workshop is part of a series of high-quality training activities implemented by the School of Educational Sciences, within its ongoing efforts to enhance the professional competencies of English language teachers in international programs and to link theoretical knowledge with practical application, in ways that meet the requirements of modern education and the needs of the educational field.

The training also comes within the context of supporting and expanding partnerships with international schools, which represent an attractive educational environment for privately funded students and an important field for practical training for students of the School of Educational Sciences. This contributes to strengthening the alignment of academic programs with labor market requirements and to graduating qualified educational professionals capable of competing effectively.
