The High Diploma in Teacher Preparation Program is grounded in a central pillar of teacher education: equipping candidates with authentic, school-based experiences that enable them to apply and demonstrate the knowledge and skills acquired during theoretical sessions. The program incorporates three school-based practicums totaling 18 weeks of intensive field training.
Candidates are placed in both public and private schools, where they engage in structured field training programs supervised by mentor teachers. These teachers undergo 40 hours of specialized preparation to ensure their capacity to provide effective mentorship to the candidates.
During the 2024–2025 academic year, a total of 1,654 mentor teachers from public schools and 240 from private schools were trained. These teachers were distributed across 18 directorates affiliated with the Ministry of Education. The training aims to prepare a new generation of qualified educators, equipping them with the necessary field experience prior to assuming their roles in supporting and mentoring teacher candidates. This effort builds on prior years, during which 560 teachers from both public and private sectors were trained in 2022–2023 and 2023–2024.
The program emphasizes the importance of active and sustainable partnerships to achieve its goals and respond to the needs of the educational field in preparing future teachers. To this end, it organizes direct and virtual meetings with stakeholders across the public and private sectors. These meetings foster shared visions, the exchange of perspectives and expertise, and collaborative efforts to advance the quality of the educational process.
In addition, the HDTP program regularly convenes specialized forums, such as the Partnership, Mentorship, and Career Preparation Forum for Teachers in Jordan, which serve as platforms for strengthening the connection between educational institutions and the broader field. These forums aim to:
- Facilitate the exchange of professional knowledge and experiences among teachers,
- Introduce participants to the latest educational practices,
- Support novice and graduating teachers in understanding labor market demands,
- Equip them with the skills necessary for professional success, and
- Reinforce collaboration among the program, the Ministry of Education, and schools in preparing highly qualified teachers.
Through these forums, the program also seeks to gather systematic feedback on its effectiveness and identify ways for enrichment and continuous improvement.
Furthermore, the program strengthens its partnership with the educational field by organizing training workshops for in-service teachers to enhance their instructional competencies. It also actively participates in educational and pedagogical events at the ministry and school levels, thereby fostering mutual knowledge exchange and contributing to the continuous development of the education sector.
