Progress Toward CAEP Accreditation
The School of Educational Sciences at the University of Jordan initiated its journey toward Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) accreditation by conducting a comprehensive analytical review of its academic programs. The review aimed to measure alignment with CAEP's five accreditation standards.
Specialized committees were formed for each standard, comprising faculty members as well as representatives from field partners and key stakeholders, thereby ensuring inclusivity and effectiveness in the review process.
The School of Educational Sciences concentrated on aligning the learning outcomes and professional competencies of the High Diploma in Teacher Preparation Program with the InTASC Standards and related performance indicators to enhance the quality of program outcomes. Regular data analyses were carried out to strengthen candidates' learning and assess the program's impact on improving teaching practices, thus fostering a learning environment grounded in continuous assessment and improvement.
Additionally, the School reviewed policies and procedures, strengthened the role of the Quality Assurance Unit, and established a comprehensive internal system for data management and analysis. This system enabled evidence-based documentation of results to inform developmental decision-making.
A self-study report, developed in line with CAEP's framework, was prepared and submitted to the accrediting body, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative evidence of meeting the standards. Following submission, the School of Educational Sciences received feedback from the review team and subsequently prepared a detailed addendum addressing their inquiries and providing additional supporting evidence. This step further strengthened transparency and clarity in demonstrating compliance with accreditation standards and reinforced the reviewers' confidence in the program's quality and commitment to continuous development.
At the current stage, the School of Educational Sciences is focusing on full preparation for the external review visit, which includes virtual and on-site meetings with faculty, candidates, completers, and stakeholders, as well as comprehensive presentations and supporting documentation for each standard. These efforts reflect the School's commitment to adopting global best practices in teacher preparation, fostering a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement, while enhancing its academic reputation and ensuring sustainable development in accordance with international accreditation standards.
